So we're in Greece now, island of Sifnos of the West Cyclades. We will be spending the next three weeks relaxing here in the little village of Kastro. Here are some pictures. We will be updating with more pictures over the next couple weeks, so check back often! We finally made this trip after having put it off for more than three years now. Obviously we just decided to go, come hell or high water or financial crisis. Can't say we've noticed anything regarding the crisis. Things are not particularly cheap, and the sun shines hot down upon the blue sea as it has for millenia. Maybe there are fewer tourists than usual, but how can we tell? [We can tell by the earlier closing times of attractions in Athens -- guide books haven't caught up yet, so for instance, the Archeological Museum is only open till 16:00 most days, not 20:00 -- which is very annoying when they kick you out!] [So in the end, I ended up splitting the photos into two sets, one for Athens, and one for Sifnos. The link to the split comes in the middle of the Athens set, so if you do a slideshow, it will seamlessly connect to Sifnos and then come back to the rest of the Athens set; however, it does make the Sifnos photo set a little hidden and hard to find. (You have to click on the thumbnail in the middle that says "Continued...") So then here is an explicit link to the Sifnos island photos.] [We put up more pictures (July 30) at the end of the current set] [Added more pictures! (Aug 3)] [Yet more pictures added (more of the same ;-) Aug 9] [Penultimate update! (Aug 12)] [Last couple photos added Aug. 14]
