The Berkshires
Peeping at Leaves
October in the Berkshires (Massachusetts)
This year we didn't go all the way to Vermont, we instead took a week in a rented house in the Berkshires in Massachusetts. Fernanda was convinced she had never been in the Berkshires; technically, she had, but she didn't know it.
There were a few crisp, blue-skied, autumn days, though it rained some, too. We were just outside Lenox. We visited the grounds of Tanglewood, found some great unpasteurized apple cider, visited some old haunts, caught up with Missy at the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, bought unpasteurized dairy products at Cricket Creek Farm, bicycled on the Ashuwillticook trail, even hiked a couple hundred meters of the Appalachian Trail ;-) to say nothing of the lazy days spent in front of the stove in the cottage.
The leaves are turning; winter is coming.
